TREKKING CHOQUEQUIRAO - MACHUPICCHU 8D/7N

ITINERARY

Day 1: Cusco - Cachora - Chikiska

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco city at 5:30 in the morning toward San Pedro of Cachora town, place in which we will know all the people who will go with us during the whole walk (cooks, porters, muleteers, guide assistant), we will have lunch in the sector of Capuliyoq. At Chikiska camp we will be able to enjoy the fruit that grows in this area besides a refreshing bath.

Day 2: Chikiska - Choquequirao

After a good breakfast we will begin the walk towards archaeological group of Choquequirao, the whole journey will be up hill.
We will eat lunch near the rural community of Marampata, we will arrive to our camp at about 5 in the afternoon where we will sleep in one of the Inca terraces, from that place we will observe a beautiful sunset.

Day 3: Choquequirao - Maizal

In the morning we will visit the whole archaeological group, we will enjoy the guided for 2 hours, at about 10:00 in the morning we will continue our walk, this day will be the heaviest because the whole day we will ascend going through the sector of Rio Blanco, in this place we will eat lunch. The camp is at 3 hours after lunch and it is placed in the sector of Maizal.

Day 4: Maizal - Yanama

During the journey of this day we will ascend for 3 hours, we will descend rounding the “Abra of Yanama”, then we will stop at Victoria mines, as an extra activity you will be able to extract some silver blocks (very abundant mineral for this area), nowadays these mines are abandoned. Lunch will be for this sector. Then we will descend until our camp Yanama.

Day 5: Yanama - Collpa

Walking in this day will be moderated because of the geography of this area, we will descend for some slopes where we will be able to observe a biodiversity. Lunch will be at Totora area which is 3 hours far of the final camp. After lunch will walk towards Collpa camp, in this place some local people who expend some articles, so you could find soft drinks, batteries and other stuff.

Day 6: Collpa - Playa

Trekking during this day will be very short but very attractive, we will have the opportunity to give us a refreshing bath in one of the waterfalls which descends from the mountain, we will also enjoy the refreshing fruits like granadilla, we will walk for some coffee and bananas plantations, we will arrive to our camp at about mid day. We will have lunch in the camp and we will have a free afternoon to relax ourselves.

Day 7: Playa – Aguas Calientes

In the morning we will begin our walk, we will ascend for a small hill that will drive us to one of the small dispersed archaeological groups called Llaqtapata, in this place we will see a figured rock that was worked to use it with astronomical purposes. Lunch will be in the hydroelectric sector, where we will get into the train towards Aguas Calientes, we will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 8: Machupicchu - Cusco

After breakfast we will take the bus towards Machupicchu, in this archaeological group we will enjoy the guided for 2 hours, after that we will have enough time to climb Huaynapicchu mountain.
In the afternoon we will return to Cusco city, the trip by train will be for 4 hours arriving approximately at 8:30 in the evening.
