SALKANTAY – INCATRAIL TO MACHUPICCHU 7D / 6N

ITINERARY
DAY 1: Cusco/Mollepata/Markuk’asa
This is the first day of our adventure trip,we start the trip picking you up from the hotel at 8 O’clock in our private transport ,after on the way we pass by the Province of Anta where we observe a lots of farming crops (Corn,potatoes,and all kind of vegetables),suddenly the landscape changes to a nice and cool weather because we start going down to Limatambo and is from here where we have the a quik stop in order to visit a very interesting Incan Site called Tarawasi(The house of the Tara Tree).
From this Village the bus takes about 30 min. to Mollepata District (2900m.a.s.l.). which is a small community located uphill along the main road from Cusco to Abancay, then we meet the horsemen in the same village , ), At Mollepata, we will complete the arrangements for our trek ,after a lovelly lunch in one of this spots we hike uphill for 03 hours aprox.to Markuk’asa (3450 /2900/3500 m.a.s.l)

DAY 2: Markuk’asa / Soraypampa/ Salkantaypampa
On is the second day of our adventure trip,We start the day having our full energy breakfast ,the first part the spectacular change of micro-climate(Cloud Forest),form here we climb to see the first impressive view of the snow-capped mountains
Soray (5910m/19389ft) Humantay (5917m/19412ft) and the holly Salcantay (6271/20573ft). We stop for lunch after 5 hours of hike(Soraypamapa)
After a proper “Siesta” we continue hiking for 02 more hours to Salkantaypampa wich is the name of our Camp site(3500/3900/4200 m.a.s.l.)

DAY 3: Salkantaypampa/Inkachiriaska pass /Pampacawana
This is the third day of our adventure trip,the day of the challenge ,we climb to the highest point of the trek,on the way up we can observe beautiful plants and animals like Andean Rabbits,andean gulls ,condors wich are going to make the challenge less difficult,after roughly 3 hours we reach the pass of Inkachiriaska(5028m/16495ft), after a proper break ,a lots of pictures and the best offering to the holly mountain Salkantay we start the descent for almost 02 hours to the lunch place (Ocopampa) after the proper siesta we keep walking by the farming lands and the Inca Canal and finally arrive to Pampacawana Community (02 more hours down hill),this nice place is next to the Inca Canal.(4200/5028/3850 m.a.s.l.)

DAY 4: Pampacawana/Wayllabamba/Llulluchapampa
This is the fourth day of our adventure trip,after 03 hours of going down hil and passing by the archaeological site of 'Paucarcancha' and then towards the village of Wayllabamba. Here we will join the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and our horseman and mules will be replaced by porters,also this village where we stop for lunch and check our passports , We then continue going uphill and observing the beautiful scenary like the rain forest we finally arrive at Llulluchapampa where we will spend the night.( 3850/3000/3750 m.a.s.l)

DAY 5: LLULLUCHAPAMPA / PUYUPATAMARCA
We climb for 2-hours up to Warmiwańusca (4,200 m.a.s.l)after the proper time for pictures and for a big celebration we start decending on to the Pacasmayo Valley,eventually we ascend to the second pass with a view of the Vilcabamba mountain range and finally descend to Chakicocha(depending on the physical conditon )we can keep walking for 1 more tour to Phuyupatamarca, where we will camp for the night. Along the way, we will visit the Runkuracay and Sayacmarca ruin,the views of the Urubamba and the snow-capped peaks of the Veronica and Salkantay make this day one of the most beautiful days on the trail(3700 – 3950 - 3600 m.a.s.l).

DAY 6: PUYUPATAMARCA / MACHU PICCHU
We start descending for almost 3 hours down to Wińaywayna ruins (2,700 m.a.s.l.), a small Inca Town with a lots of fountains and spectacular scenery of the cloud forest(lunch place), after a proper siesta ,we head on north east for about 1 hour and 15 min. And finally we reach Inti Punku(Sun Gate) from this point we can see the most impressive site on the whole Inca Trail( panaromic view of Machu Picchu ) .We will walk down the last part of the trail towards the ancient city itself. On this day, we walk through Machu Picchu, focusing for the tour the next day! after which we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes Town where we spend the night in a hostal (3600- 2700- 2080 m.a.s.l.)

DAY 7: MACHU PICCHU / CUZCO
Finally after a proper sleep and hot showers, we wake up quit early for a Wonderful day,We take breakfast and then catch the first bus (5:30 a.m) up to Machu Picchu. A walking tour (approximately 2 and half hours),exploring the fantastic stone edification of Machu Picchu, probably the most outstanding feat of engineering in all ancient America. Temples, stairways, palaces and gabled stone dwellings are scattered everywhere, testifying to the energy and ingenuity of the builders. Afternoon return by train to Cuzco and transfer to your hotel,your Tour Guide will give you the most unforgetable tour ,after we have time to walk around the mysterious city by ourselves. If you like you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m)It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top(2080-2430-3450 m.a.s.l.)

IMPORTANT
The camp sites are designed by the government, they are subject to chances depending the booking date,the spaces are limited by the INC (National Institute of culture). The camp sites mentioned befote in the programme are referencials.
Since 2000 ,year when the Peruvian government regulated the Inca Trail (5, 4 or 2 days) is limited to 500 people per day (including Guides, porters and cooks). It is therefore a high priority to book in advance to guarantee a place on the date you want to leave. For Inca Trail treks in the high season (June, July, August and September) it is advisable to book at least 4 months ahead .
