ITINERARY

DAY 1: CUZCO/ LLAQTAPATA

Transfer from Cuzco to Chillca by our private coach. The start of the Trek is at 77 km point. After four, five hours walking we reach the Llaqtapata Ruins, the town build in the inca times. (2950 m.) Along the way we pass the official Check Point of the Inca trail, where the Peruvian officers check your passports. From here we walk roughly two hours to reach our camp site.
Height 2700 – 2950 m

DAY 2: LLAQTAPATA/ LLULLUCHAPAMPA

After an early wake up and nice breakfast we start hiking uphills to the place called Kusicancha Ravine, The trail leads to Wayllabamba, a quiet village of Inca origin which is the last main settlement on the Inca trail before we reach Machu Picchu. After lunch, we have a rest, than we continue tracking to the campsite at Llulluchapampa. Todays tracking takes s totally five or six hours
Height: 2950 - 3,700 m.

DAY 3: LLULLUCHAPAMPA / PUYUPATAMARCA

After an early morning breakfast we climb about two hours up to Warmiwañusca which is the highest point of our track 4,200 m. After a short celebration, and picture taking we start decending on to the Pacasmayo Valley. Reaching the second pass we can have a fantastic view of the Vilcabamba mountain range and finally we descend to Chakicocha. Depending on the physical condition, we can keep walking for one more hour to Phuyupatamarca, where we camp for the night. Along the way, we will visit the Runkuracay and Sayacmarca ruins. The views of the Urubamba and the snow-capped peaks of the Veronica and Salkantay make this day one of the most beautiful days on the trail.

DAY 4: PUYUPATAMARCA / MACHU PICCHU

We start descending for almost three hours to Wiñaywayna ruins (2,700 m.). It is a beautiful small Inca Town with a lots of fountains and spectacular scenery of the cloud forest, and this is the place where we shall have our lunch. After a short rest we turn to North East and keep walking for about an hour and a half. Finally we reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punktu) where we can see the most impressive site on the whole Inca Trail and have an unforgettable panaromic view of Machu Picchu We will walk down the last part of the trail towards to the ancient city itself. On this day, we walk through Machu Picchu, focusing for the city tour of tomorrow!

The bus will take us down to Aguas Calientes Town where we spend the night in a hostal

DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU / CUZCO

After four days sleeping in tents, cleaning in bolls, we can sleep in a bed can have nice shower we wake up in the hotel room and can start a wonderful day, which will start very early. We have breakfast and then catch the first bus at 5:30 a.m up to Machu Picchu. A two and a half hours sight seeing will introduce you the fantastic stone architecture of Machu Picchu, and probably the most outstanding feat of engineering of all ancient America. Temples, stairways, palaces and gabled stone dwellings are scattered everywhere, testifying to the energy and ingenuity of the builders. After the city tour you have time to walk around in the mysterious city by yourselves, making some memorable photoes. If you have enough energy, you can climb Huayna Picchu the well known hill from the post cards. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top.

IMPORTANT

  1. The camp sites are designed by the government, they are subject to chances depending the booking date,the spaces are limited by the INC (National Institute of culture). The camp sites mentioned befote in the programme are referencials.
  2. Since 2000 ,year when the Peruvian government regulated the Inca Trail (5, 4 or 2 days) is limited to 500 people per day (including Guides, porters and cooks). It is therefore a high priority to book in advance to guarantee a place on the date you want to leave. For Inca Trail treks in the high season (June, July, August and September) it is advisable to book at least 4 months ahead .
