ITINERARY

Day 1: Wiñay Wayna / Machu Picchu

We pick you up from your hotel at 5.30 am and take you to the train station. We travel by train it the starting point. On the way we can observe a very picturesque landscape. Within four hours we reach kilometre 104 (Chachabamba), which is the start point of the trail for us. From here, we track roughly three-four hours up to the Inca archaeological site called Wiñay Wayna (For ever young). Reaching this Inca town we carry on North East direction, for about an hour. Finally we reach the Sun Gate ( Inti Punku). From here we can have the most impressive panoramic view of Machu Picchu. After taking some fantastic photos, we start walking downhill. The last part of the trail towards the ancient city. On this day, we walk through Machu Picchu, focusing for the tour we going to make next day!
We practically finish the day going down to Aguas Calientes in order to have dinner and rest.

Day 2: AGUAS CALIENTES/ MACHUPICCHU/AGUAS CALIENTES/ CUSCO

Early wake up call, for a Wonderful day. We have breakfast and then catch the first bus at 5:30 am, up to Machu Picchu.
Your tour Guide will give you the most unforgettable tour, a two and a half hours sight seeing in the ancient town. After the sight seeing, you can explore the mysterious city by yourselves. If you have energy you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m).
Q’oricancha
It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top.
You will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes, for lunch. You will get from him the train tickets back to Cusco. The train usually leaves at 3.55pm and you will arrive back to Cusco about 8.45pm.

If you decide to spend an extra night in Aguas Calientes it can be arranged. This option is very popular as it allows more time to discover Machu Picchu, the secret town of the Inca. You can also have the possibility to visit the “HOT SPRINGS” the thermal medicinal water of the town. The name of the town Aquas Calientes means hot springs

IMPORTANT

  1. Since 2000 ,year when the Peruvian government regulated the Inca Trail (5, 4 or 2 days) is limited to 500 people per day (including Guides, porters and cooks). It is therefore a high priority to book in advance to guarantee a place on the date you want to leave. For Inca Trail treks in the high season (June, July, August and September) it is advisable to book at least 4 months ahead
